Erscheinung:13.11.2023 | Topic Unauthorised business, Consumer protection cmfx.trade: BaFin investigates Capital Master GmbH and warns consumers of a case of identity fraud
The Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) warns consumers about the website cmfx.trade. According to information available to BaFin, the operators are providing financial and investment services on this website without the required authorisation.
The website is operated by a company calling itself Capital Master GmbH. However, the website does not contain a legal notice or any other information as to the company’s domicile or business address.
BaFin has information that persons claiming to be employees of Capital Master GmbH are contacting customers of the online trading platform tierion-finance.com who had suffered financial losses on this trading platform. This platform has not been granted authorisation from BaFin and is alleged to be engaging in fraudulent activities. The persons claiming to be employees of Capital Master GmbH offer these aggrieved customers the chance to recover the capital they had originally invested, including any profits allegedly accrued since then. When making this offer, they claim that a connection exists between them and EUWAX Aktiengesellschaft, a company that has been granted authorisation from BaFin. However, no such connection exists. There is no business relationship between EUWAX Aktiengesellschaft and Capital Master GmbH and any of the offers they are making. This is a case of identity fraud committed by unknown perpetrators against EUWAX Aktiengesellschaft.
Anyone conducting banking business or providing financial or investment services in Germany may do so only with authorisation from BaFin. However, some companies offer these services without the required authorisation. Information on whether a particular company has been granted authorisation by BaFin can be found in BaFin’s database of companies.
The information provided by BaFin is based on section 37 (4) of the German Banking Act (Kreditwesengesetz – KWG).
Please be aware
BaFin, the German Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt – BKA) and the German state criminal police offices (Landeskriminalämter) recommend that consumers seeking to invest money online should exercise the utmost caution and do the necessary research beforehand in order to identify fraud attempts at an early stage.
