External information is an important source of findings and insights for financial market supervision. By providing their information, market participants – in particular journalists, insiders, analysts and short sellers or other experts with specialist knowledge – can make a valuable contribution towards identifying risks and uncovering potential irregularities in the financial sector.

With its Market Contact Group (MCG), BaFin has established a special contact point for market participants for this very purpose. BaFin invites you to enter into a constructive and fruitful exchange of information via the MCG.

The MCG consists of a panel of experienced colleagues who receive your information and combine it with the knowledge already available to BaFin. In cooperation with our experts from the BaFin divisions, your information is evaluated in terms of the risks that may be associated with the case at hand. If required, an exchange of views is organised between our specialist supervisors and the market participants.

With the MCG as contact point, BaFin ensures that your valuable information reaches the right place and is used in the best possible way for BaFin’s supervisory work and in order to safeguard financial market stability.
