BaFin’s rules of social media netiquette

BaFin uses the social media channels LinkedIn under BaFin, Instagram under @bafin_bund and X under @BaFin_Bund in order to provide information on a wide range of current supervisory issues.

It is very important to us that we enter into dialogue and exchange views with the users of these social media platforms. We welcome questions, suggestions and constructive discussions on our channels.

Mutual respect – a top priority for us

We kindly ask all users to communicate with each other in a spirit of respect and to engage in constructive dialogue. The tone of the discourse should be fair and arguments should be based on facts. Always bear in mind that you are dealing with human beings and not virtual characters. Ensure that the tone of your comments is always fair and courteous, that you remain objective and do not make insulting, defamatory or slanderous remarks and provocations.

Please refrain from posting comments that glorify violence or contain vulgar, discriminating, racist, sexist, homophobic, anti-Semitic, hateful and/or unlawful statements or contents. This also applies to contributions involving for-profit contents.

Furthermore, references and comments should relate specifically to the content of the tweet or to BaFin affairs.

BaFin reserves the right to delete contributions that violate these rules of netiquette and/or to report such contributions to the operator of the social media platform. We also reserve the right to permanently block users from a discussion in the event of serious or repeated violations.

Data protection

We wish to make it quite clear that the aforementioned social media platforms store the data of their users (e.g. personal information, IP addresses) in accordance with their own data usage policies and use them for business purposes. Please refer to the data protection policies of these providers for information on your rights and your options for adjusting the settings in order to safeguard your privacy.
